The Local Organising Committee is pleased to announce the 17th International Symposium on Phototrophic Prokaryotes (ISPP2022), which will be held in Liverpool, UK from 21-25 August 2022.
The conference will take place at the ACC Convention Centre on the Liverpool waterfront. The venue is beautiful, Liverpool is an exciting city to visit and there is an excellent choice of accommodation within easy walking distance of the convention centre.
Our usual schedule of scientific meetings has been disrupted over the last couple of years, but the exciting progress in the field has continued regardless. So we have plenty to catch up on and we look forward to our research community meeting again in person.
Welcome to Liverpool!
ISPP is a long-established independent meeting devoted to phototrophic prokaryotes, including cyanobacteria and the huge variety of anoxygenic phototrophs. We cover every aspect of these fascinating organisms that have done so much to shape the biosphere of our planet, from ecology and evolution to cell biology, the biochemistry and biophysics of photosynthesis and biotechnological applications. The breadth of the meeting gives a wonderful opportunity to establish exciting new connections.
ISPP has been held every 3 years from the first meeting in Freiburg, Germany in 1973 through to the 16th in Vancouver, Canada in 2018. Circumstances forced a slightly longer pause than usual, but let’s get back together again in Liverpool in 2022!
