ISPP is a long-established independent meeting devoted to phototrophic prokaryotes, including cyanobacteria and the huge variety of anoxygenic phototrophs. We cover every aspect of these fascinating organisms that have done so much to shape the biosphere of our planet, from ecology and evolution to cell biology, the biochemistry and biophysics of photosynthesis and biotechnological applications. The breadth of the meeting gives a wonderful opportunity to establish exciting new connections.

ISPP has been held every 3 years from the first meeting in Freiburg, Germany in 1973 through to the 16th in Vancouver, Canada in 2018. Circumstances forced a slightly longer pause than usual, but let’s get back together again in Liverpool in 2022!
